Integrated Control and Monitoring System "TERANET50X" obtains cyber resilience certification from ABS

May 13, 2025
Terasaki Electric Co.,Ltd.

Terasaki Electric Co., Ltd. has obtained type approval for the IACS UR E27 cyber resilience requirements (Note 1) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for our Integrated Control and Monitoring System "TERANET50X".

Our Integrated Control and Monitoring System "TERANET50X" is a system that performs integrated monitoring and control of various onboard plants such as main engines, generators, ballast systems, and fuel systems by distributed modular components and integrating them with dual-loop Ethernet.

In recent years, as digital transformation using ICT and IoT technologies progresses and interconnection advances, it has become urgent to strengthen cyber resilience in order to respond to cyber-attacks that may compromise availability, integrity, and confidentiality.

In the future, as the number of autonomous ships and carbon neutral ships increases, onboard plants are expected to become increasingly complex, and "TERANET50X" will also be required to interconnect with various external devices and transmit data to land, etc. In this situation, strengthening cyber resilience is essential, and we have now obtained type approval from ABS after taking the necessary measures to meet the IACS UR E27 cyber resilience requirements.

We will continue to obtain cyber resilience approval from classification societies in each country and provide products that support the safety and security of ship operation.

Note 1
This is one of two unified rules for strengthening the cyber resilience of ships established by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and applies to on-board systems and equipment.
E26 "Cyber Resilience of Ships" (applies to ships)
E27 "Cyber resilience of on-board systems and equipment" (applies to on-board equipment)
These unified rules have become mandatory for ships under construction contracts from July 1, 2024 onwards, but no other industries have such mandatory requirements, making them pioneering strict rules.
